2017 Year in Review - Brisbane Family Photographer
Merry Christmas! No I can't believe it either. Every year feels like it flies by - especially when you stop for a moment and take a minute to look back at the year that was. For me personally and professionally 2017 was a massive year with some incredible accomplishments and growth.
January
I kicked the year off with moving to our new home and finally having an amazing studio space to showcase all of my beautiful props and really find my creative side.
February I entered my first ever photography competition, and won an award for Best Textile Image at a local photography conference. This was a massive turning point because it gave me the confidence to enter more awards this year. (un-modest moment... I did very well in those too!)
August I attended a massive 4 day conference called The Baby Summit and connected with many other photographers, forming wonderful new friendships and bringing home a lot of information as well.
Major Awards I entered my first state and national Australian Institute of Professional Photographers awards where I won a total of 5 awards including a Gold award for one of my family photos. I did so well that they have granted me free entry to the Family category in 2018!
On a personal level I made a point of capturing an image of myself and my girls that I have been dreaming about taking for years. It was a major thing for me to be in front of the camera, but as the member of the family who takes all the photos, I am very rarely in them. I have this image printed at A2 size and hanging in our living room. I love it so much.
Besides my own family, I have photographed
111 families in 2017 2 sets of newborn triplets, 3 sets of newborn twins
I have also started creating very special "story telling" imagery such as this one of triplets Aiden, Elaina and Clay who spent 76 days in hospital before coming home.
And to wind the year down, I have been frantically working to ensure that all the families that choose me as their photographer recieve all of their images before I take two weeks annual leave to spend time with my own family. STILL TO COME... Be sure to keep an eye out for the year-in-review slide shows coming up soon on Facebook where all of this year's families are celebrated. If you see it, make sure you like, comment, share and tag yourself! With a lot of big things already planned for 2018 I know it will be another cracker of a year and I certainly can't wait to see you and your family throughout the year! I'd like to wish you and your family a wonderful, safe summer and a magical Christmas with lots of love, champagne ham*, swimming and sunshine. See you in 2018!
xoxo
