Willow - Brisbane Baby Photographer
We met at the gate to the Mt Coot-tha Gardens almost a year from the day we met the first time, when Willow's parents were waiting to meet her.
Their maternity session was a gorgeous afternoon out and this first birthday session was a stunning winters morning.
We went to a few of the same spots that we had photographed at the maternity session and recreated some of the images. I loved that Willows dress had a similar floral design to the one her mum wore back then.
She had me laughing as she cuddled mum but was reaching for dad, so they passed her over and then as soon as she was cuddling her dad she was reaching back for her mum!
She loved her mums necklace too, constantly finding the pendant on the end and playing with it.
As we walked through the gardens her parents were pointing out all the birds, spiders and butterflies to her. There was one little garden by a tree that was such a beautiful spot, some of the maroon flowers echoing the colours in her dress and the soft undergrowth giving the photo the feel of a fairy garden.
We came across some bright yellow bamboo and used that as a backdrop for a really bright family photo before heading to the jetty by the lake to finish the session beneath the two Willow trees.
She loved playing peek a boo between the jetty balustrades and looking into the water to spot the local residents swimming. As walking was something still very new to Willow she was quite sure to keep a strong hold on the railing to avoid falling over.
We finished the session with one of my favourite images (because its usually one of the little ones favourite images) where dad lifts them high into the air. It is nearly guaranteed great smiles, and Willow loved it!
I loved this image because theres the halo of sunlight behind her golden hair and the Willow tree was softly rusting behind her, framing her beautiful beaming face.
It was such a wonderful way to end not the session, but also to wrap up the past year of sessions. I was so honoured to capture Willows journey from bump to first birthday and to have enjoyed spending so much time with her lovely parents in the past year also.
